Tim CierpiszewskCierpiszewski's artistic exploration refers to our collective social (image) consciousness - the internet. In recent years, Cierpiszewski has generated and cultivated his own online archive of images from the internet, which forms the foundation of his work. Within a process of appropriation and transformation, he edits, remixes and samples the original images until they develop a new character and result in completely independent image rejects. Cierpiszewski sees spaces, conditions, angles, surfaces and reacts to them. They become a part of his concept and his work, as well as an exhibition object in themselves.
In his latest conceptual exploration of painting, he responds to the new environment and architecture. To do this, he uses around three thousand images from his archive to create an exhibition of unique images, flowing architectures, structures and worlds of colour that expand, complement, but also contacarise the space - digital painting.
During his studies, Cierpiszewski was already intensively involved with architecture, statics, space, surface, line and frame. Through the use of differences, repetitions, superimpositions and complex patterns, he creates three-dimensional works that react to images in the form of books and play through them within a concept. These complex book works give rise to prints, panel paintings and wall works, which in turn make reference to the architecture at his disposal.
After studying philosophy at the University of Essen, he studied with Prof. Martin Gostner at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and free art with Prof. Maik and Dirk Löbbert at the Münster Art Academy. In 2007 he graduated as a master student and received his academy diploma in 2009. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions in various countries, he has also been involved in countless projects as a curator.
